Of rectangular form with rounded corners, decorated on the exterior in gold low-relief takamaki-e, hiramaki-e and nashiji with scattered Tokugawa hollyhock crests (aoi mon) and unidentified floral crests on a roiro ground designed in gold togidashi with a pattern of interlocking manji (swastika), the interior and base nashiji, the underside of the cover designed in gold takamaki-e, hiramaki-e and okibirame with water plants beneath a moon of inlaid silver, with silver fittings cast as chrysanthemum florets
