Lot Essay

The present work was executed after the artist's second marriage to Evelyn Wade, with whom he had two daughters. Anne Compton considers that this is the only recorded and exhibited work not to have been commissioned and is therefore biographical in subject matter

We are very grateful to Anne Compton for her help in cataloging this lot
