LECTIONARY, in Latin. Single sheet from a VERY LARGE MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM [Italy, Umbria?, circa 1120]
500 x 350mm. 50 lines, double column, ruled in plummet, justification: 380 x 239mm, written in black ink in a late Carolingian Minuscule, rubrics in red, headings in uncial capitals. Large initial 'M' in red heightened with yellow and two-line initial 'O' black and red infilled with yellow.
The text comprises mainly the Lamentations of Jeremiah, Elegy III line 22 to 51, to be read on the Saturday before Easter. Presumably from a monastic lectionary, with wide margins and pricking marks, later pencil foliation 20. IN FINE CONDITION
