Three (of four) volumes. Imperial 2° (465x330mm). Collation: I: [110 2-148 156 16-198 206 2110 22-318 326] (1/1 blank, 1/2r prologue, 1/3r tabula, 1/4r part one, 32/5v colophon, 32/6 blank); II: [18 2-310 4-58 6-710 86 98 1010 11-138 14-1410 168 17-228.10 23-248 2510 268 27-2910 30-318 3210 33-368 376] (1/1 blank, 1/2r prologue, 1/3v part two, 37/3v colophon, 37/4r table, 37/6v blank); III: [1-310 4-68 7-2010.8 218 22-508.10 518 526] (1/1 blank, 1/2r prologue, 1/5r part three, 51/8r colophon, 51/8v blank, 52/1r tabula, 52/6 blank). 254; 322; 464 leaves, without part 4 (338 leaves). 59-60 lines and headline, double column. Type: 3:110aG (text), 4:160G (headings and headline). 8- to 15-line initials opening each book in red and blue, those in book II with Maiblumen decoration, 4-5-line initials in red, sometimes in blue (all volumes) or violet (vols.I,III), paragraph marks and capital strokes in red. (Light dampstain in final quires of vol. I, a few tears along gutter in vol. II without loss and usually discreetly repaired, one tear into text on II:36/7 without loss.) Contemporary pigskin over wooden boards, blindstamped, vols. I and III with the same stamps, those on vol. II different, brass corner and central pieces and catchplates to vol. III (missing two corner pieces, missing all on others), vellum back flyleaf in vol. I, brass staple for chaining retained on rear board of vol. I, staple mark on vol. II, brass clasps to vol. III present but detached; vol. II is an Ulm binding, very possibly by Conrad Dinckmut, Kyriss shop 126, stamps 1, 2, 4, and 5, plus a shield stamp (reproduced in Amelung, Frühdruck, nr.100) and a periwinkle stamp (reproduced in Donaueschingen sale, Sotheby's, 1 July 1994, stamp 56); the stamps on vols. I and III are not in Kyriss/Schwenke-Sammlung. Provenance: Munich, Royal Library, vols. I and III marked "Duplum" and "No 82"; small stamp with initials F.H. on front pastedowns on vols. I and III; some early marginal annotations in vol. II, first leaf inscribed FF Marchtall.
