Chancery 2° (215 x 146mm). Collation: a-b8 c-i l-q6 r8 (a1r prologue and text, r7v colophon, r8 blank). 101 (of 104, lacking the first quire of 2 lvs. containing the tabula, and without final blank) leaves. 33 lines. Type: 4:105R, printed guide-letters. 2-8-line initials alternating in red and blue. (First and final leaves repaired, touching text but without loss, first and final quires rehinged, a few fore-edges strengthened, some light spotting). 20th-century vellum over paper boards, leather spine label, by F. Rappaport, Rome.

FIRST EDITION. The Vite was printed at the press established within the Dominican convent of nuns of S. Jacopo di Ripoli. The sisters acted as compositors, assisted in press-work by Johannes Petri, Nicolaus Laurentii and others. The day-book of the press's activity, kept by Fra Domenico da Pistoia, the procurator who was responsible for the founding of the press, still exists.
