GEORGE FARM - George Neil Farm was worn in Edinburgh in 1924. As a Goalkeeper, he began his career at Armadale followed by a spell with Hibernian. He is probably most closely associated with his next Senior Club, Blackpool, whom he joined in 1948. There, he made 503 League and F.A. Cup appearances. Through diligent practice and hard work, Farm developed into a reliable custodian, who, though by no means orthodox, inspired the greatest confidence in his defence. In 1960 he moved to Queen of the South, taking over as Manager there in 1961, he assumed the same position with Dunfermline in 1967 and the following year they won the Scottish Cup. In 1970, Farm became Manager at Raith Rovers, retiring from football in 1974. The Property of GEORGE NEIL FARM (see also lots 135 and 136)

The 1953 Cup Final is arguably the most famous F.A. Cup Final match of all time. It is perhaps better known as "The Matthews Final" because of the display given in the last half hour by the legendary Blackpool winger. Blackpool, 3-1 down with twenty minutes remaining were suddenly transformed by the skill of Matthews. Firstly, his cross was fumbled by Hanson, the Bolton Wanderers Goalkeeper, leaving Mortensen to poke the ball in for Blackpool's second goal. Bolton's defence held out until the 88th minute when Mortensen scored a tremendous goal from a free-kick for the equaliser. Then with seconds left, Perry scored to give Blackpool the Trophy for the first time.
In the 1951 F.A. Cup Final, Newcastle United defeated Blackpool 2-0.
