An Austrian walnut, burr-walnut, fruitwood and marquetry armoire
Mid 18th Century
The eared canted moulded rectangular cornice surmounted by a rectangular pediment inlaid with a perching bird flanked by arabesque acanthus scrolls, the frieze inlaid with panels of scrolling rockwork and date 17/58, above a pair of doors inlaid with panels of scrolling rockwork centred by trellis and rockwork cartouches, enclosing a plain interior lined with red and grey marbleised paper, enclosing two shelves and four drawers to the right and an open compartment to the left, between canted angles inlaid with angular strapwork and husk trails, above a waved apron and on later bun feet, with two transport labels to the reverse, restorations
