A PAIR OF CLOISONNE ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE PRICKET CANDLESTICKS

Each with a domed foot rising to a knopped waist below a dish-shaped drip-pan, the tapering cylindrical central column terminating in a smaller drip-pan and pricket, decorated on a turquoise ground with bands of lotus meander divided by ribboned Buddhist emblems, some enamel loss and pitting

Lot Essay

Prince Romanovskii was the grandson of Eugene de Beauharnais on his father's side and of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia on his mother's. He married twice, both morganatically, and had one daughter who died in a Soviet labour camp about 1928
