William S. Doyle studied under Daniel Bowen (circa 1760-1856), the owner of the Columbian Museum and in 1806 they entered into partnership, to be joined a year later by Henry Williams (1787-1830) Their advertisement ran "Miniature and Portrait Painters at the Museum; where profiles are correctly cut"
