Lot Essay

Henry Henry (1776-1860) was the eldest son of Henry Rice and his wife Sarah Samson. He married Lucy Lefroy, the daughter of jane Austen's great friend and mentor Mrs. Lefroy. He became a curate at a parish in Hampshire and appears quite frequently in Jane Austen's correspondence. He succeeded James Austen as curate at Deene in Hampshire when the Austen family moved to Bath.
