Lot Essay

John Rice (b.1777), was the son of Henry Rice of Bramling and his wife Sarah Samson. He was at the Battle of Seringapatam in 1799 and was subsequently made Governor of an Indian province, but died of fever shortly afterwards at the age of 23.
