A nearly identical chair is illustrated in a Gillows design for the dining-room of Linton for Earl Cornwallis, dated 1825. (Gillow Archive, E102 1952)

It is probable that a proportion of the furniture from Belton attributed to Gillows came from the Brownlows' London house in Carlton House Terrace sold in the 1920's
