Lot Essay

Like lot ... this was on a page in the album inscribed by Miss Moore 'Mrs Wainwright's'.

This is a variant of lot ..., inscribed by Fuseli as having been done at Hastings in August 1813. Here rather more of the setting is indicated, including a further room behind in which a young girl sits reading under a large window, oblivious to the scene being enacted in the foreground. For the significance of the letter 'K' in the inscription see Lot p. 16
