chugissaki and torii-zori, details obscured (shallow notches), ubu nakago signed Seiunzan ni oite Myoju Koden Umetada Toshishige (of Yamashiro), circa 1803, 51.2 cm. long; in brown lacquer saya decorated with gilt hiramakie takanohamon, shakudo-nanakoji fuchi with three cranes in gilt takazogan, horn makikaki-no-kashira, shakudo tsuba with ivy leaves and tendrils on a nanako ground (no kogai or kozuka)
