A HANDACHI KATANA, the blade wide honzukuri, iorimune, extended chugissaki and toriizori, the hada concealed by slight fingerprint rust, with sakachoji-midare hamon of nioi and omaru boshi, ubu nakago signed Toeizanroku ni oite Iwano Michitoshi (Banryusai Michitoshi of Musashi), Ichikawasai gu tsutsushimu Tanso-tetsu wo motte Kore-o zukuri, and dated Ansei 4 (1857), hinotomi hachigatsu kichijitsu, 69.9 cm. long; the koshirae, a shuronoke-togidashi saya lightly sprinkled with mijingainuri, the handachi fittings in dark shibuichi nanakoji, iron tsuba and gilt dragon menuki (tsuka-ito damaged)
