A PAIR OF FRENCH PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOLS with reblued octagonal sighted rifled barrels signed 'Gastinne-Renette á Paris' on the top flat, case-hardened breech tangs and breeches numbered 1 and 2 and engraved with scrolling foliage, the former with blued adjustable back-sights, the locks and mounts engraved with foliage and retaining their dull grey finish, the latter including spurred trigger-guards and shaped pommels, figured walnut half-stocks carved with foliage in low relief on the fore-ends, and fluted butts: in original lined and fitted wooden case with full accessories, the lid (cracked, escutcheon missing) signed in gilt letters on a black leather label on the inside, circa 1850
