A Meissen Hausmalerei café-au-lait-ground part tea-service
Circa 1740, the decoration circa 1750, blue crossed swords marks, some with painter's 7 and .2. and M, Pressnummer 4 to teacups and 6 to one saucer
The honeycomb-moulded grounds painted by J.E. Ferner, comprising:
A pear-shaped milk-jug with gilt S-scroll handle, gilt foliage border and spout, painted with Samson and Delilah and two soldiers
Three teacups with Biblical scenes flanked by buildings, trees and rockwork, the interiors of the cups with a central landscape roundel with radiating flower-sprays divided by underglaze blue and gilt flowers within a broad border of gilt scrolling foliage (one teacup with minute rim chip and slight rubbing to gilt rim)
Three saucers, similarly decorated (slight rubbing to gilding)
