A Meissen silver-gilt mounted turquoise-ground circular snuff-box Circa 1740
Painted in the manner of C.F. Herold with a continuous band of figures on horseback, standing, loading and unloading ships on a harbourside, the base with figures standing beside a terraced building in a hilly landscape, the cover with a central gilt-edged biscuit portrait medallion of a gentleman, the interior of the cover with Orientals before palm trees by an estuary, the interior richly gilt (minor rubbing to enamels of the base)

Lot Essay
The biscuit portrait medallion is almost certainly of Frederich Christian son of Augustus III of Saxony, who married Maria Antonia of Bavaria in 1747.
