INDENTLieutenant Leslie William Draycott Tratman, born 1898, Forest Hill, London, joined the Artists' Rifles O.T.C February 1917, commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Flying Corps in June and gained his Wings and Pilot's Certificate in September; Lieutenant, Royal Air Force, 1 April 1918; served with 38 Squadron (F.E.2Bs) in France and Flanders, was engaged on night bombing operations and after a number of successful flights over enemy territory his machine was shot down and he and his Observer were taken prisoner, 18 July; after the war Tratman was appointed Instructor to a night flying Squadron, March 1919 and on his arrival at Harpenwell Aerodrome was taken ill and died of Broncho-Pneumonia, 13 March; he was buried in Ladywell Cemetery, Lewisham.
