Large engraved wall-map on 15 full-page sheets, five half sheets and index, full-page sheets each 500 x 680mm and folding. Index leaf hand-coloured, inset views of Niagara Falls, Mexico City, Quebec and New York, 17 inset harbour plans, on guards (index detached, three outer margins slightly dust soiled and torn). Contemporary calf-backed boards (worn).

A fine impression of the first edition of Popple's map, drawn up under the direction of the Lord Commissioners of Trade and Plantations to help settle disputes between the European colonists. This map was the first large-scale printed map of America. Tooley America p.316.
