Lot Essay

The painting of the first subject was exhibited at the Louvre in 1738, no. 116, with the title 'Un petit tableau repésentant le portrait du fils de M. Godefroy, joailler, appliqué à voir tourner un toton'. The painting of the second subject was exhibited at the Louvre in 1741, no. 72, with the title 'Un tableau représentant le fils de M. Lenoir s'amusant à faire un château de cartes.'
