Lot Essay

The present set of reliefs, which Thornycroft executed for Toogood, reveal close ties with Arts and Crafts ideals and Art Nouveau designs. The decorative has been successfully combined with the naturalistic in this set of ornate and contemporary scenes of horticulture.
