the most authentic traditions of the Prophet, manuscript on buff paper, 218ff. plus two flyleaves, each with 13ll. of strong black naskh, punctuation in red, red or blue dots, red and black roundels or gold roundels between phrases, occasional words and headings in red, further headings in blue and gold outlined in black, copious red and black marginal notes, (some staining, occasional smudging, very occasional repairs), opening folio illuminated in gold, blue, red, white and black with associated marginal medallion, the title in white within a cusped roundel, (creased and rubbed), following bifolio with gold margin between black rules and blue outer rule, final page with colophon in light brown, signed by Ahmad b. al-Badr b. Muhammad b. Uwais al-Ma'ari al-Muwaqqar and dated 805, Ottoman brown morocco binding with central medallion (repaired), in red presentation box
