A SILVER-GILT MOUNTED GEM-SET PERSIAN SHAMSHIR with watered slightly curved single-edged blade cut with two fullers along the back-edge on both sides, the forte etched and gilt on one side with Persian inscriptions, the name 'Asad Ullah' and the date, the hilt with ivory grips divided by an engraved silver-gilt band, and with downcurved quillons with scrolled terminals, in original green velvet-covered wooden scabbard (velvet worn) with engraved silver-gilt mounts en suite with the hilt, the quillons and scabbard mounts set with applied gold and silver foliate designs (adapted from jewellery) set with rosecut diamonds, a ruby, a sapphire, emeralds and other gem stones, dated 1833 AD
