[BIBIENA, Ferdinando Galli and Francesco Galli] -- LOTTI, Lotto. Piacenza: Bazachi, 1690.
4° (202 x 150mm). 5 (of 6) large folding etched plates, the first after Baratta, the remainder after designs by Fernando and Francesco Bibiena. (One with a short tear.) 18th-century gilt decorated paper showing oriental figures by Johann Carl Munck of Augsburg, with his imprint and number 115.
FIRST AND ONLY EDITION of this extremely rare feste book which contains an unrecorded suite of stage designs by two famous brothers of the Bibiena family - their names are printed as Pittori delle scene on the verso of the second leaf. This is one of four entertainments given by the Duke of Parma in his 'nuovo teatrino', this one celebrating the marriage of his eldest son with the princess Doroteo Sofia of Neuburg. In the same year the Bibiena brothers designed the sets for another opera-ballet called L'età dell'oro'. This latter book is well-described by bibliographers, but the present is not listed in any of the standard bibliographies. Very few of the copies known contain all six plates.
