Contemporary speckled calf, spine gilt (neat repair to head and foot of spine, upper joint cracked). Provenance: A.C. Lascarides (bookplate).
Only edition of this finely illustrated description of the Hôtel des Invalides by its administrator. Built to house wounded military veterans to the design of Libéral Bruant and modelled on the Escorial, the hotel was commissioned by Louis XIV and started in 1670. Berlin Kat. 2476.
