(Without the later supplements.) Contemporary red half morocco, gilt, g.e., by Henderson & Bisset (spine slightly discoloured, extremities a little rubbed).
A fine copy. The first seven parts of the supplement were not issued until over 50 years later, between 1933 and 1940, parts 8 and 9 between 1960 and 1962. Elwes first became interested in lilies on a visit to the Himalayas, his wife encouraged this interest, and the work as it stood in 1880 included nearly all the lilies then known in cultivation.
