Lot Essay

George Rémond produced gold and enamel boxes of the highest quality often in conjunction with musical and automaton movements by Frères Rochat. The maker's mark on the present example was in use between 1805 and 1815.

A note enclosed in this box states that it was purchased from Burzio in 1810 for #100 by Lord James Murray (created Baron Glenlyon 17 July 1821, see note to lot 93). .
