THREE SPINACH JADE 'SCHOLAR'S TABLE' VESSELS
late 18th/early 19th century
Comprising a paint-box supported on four feet and carved around the body with a wide band of waves and geometric patterns at the rounded corners, divided by two bird-head loop handles suspending loose rings, the cover with dragon roundels and a central coiled dragon finial, 6in. (15cm.) wide; a smaller box carved on the cover with a symmetrical floral motif, small rim frits, 2 3/8in. (6cm.) wide, wood stand; and on archaistic vase carved with panels of writhing dragons between stylised lotus-lappet and cicada motifs, 5in. (12cm.) high (3)
