A GEORGE III SILVER-GILT SAUCE TUREEN AND COVER
maker's mark of Digby Scott and Benjamin Smith, London, 1803

Of circular form and on spreading foot, the reeded handles each terminating in a classical bust and applied with a coat-of-arms on a shaped cartouche, the slightly domed cover with bud finial, the tureen cast and applied with bands of acanthus leaves and leaf-capped Vitruvian scrolls, the cover applied with a band of trailing vines, marked on foot, cover and finial, the base stamped 'RUNDELL BRIDGE & RUNDELL AURIFICES REGIS LONDINI FECERUNT' - 6in. (15cm.) high

The arms are those of Vane quartering others with McDonald quartering others in pretence surrmounted by an Earl's coronet for Sir Henry Vane Tempest, 2nd Bt., (1771-1813) and his wife Anne Catherine (d.1834), Countess of Antrim in her own right, daughter of Randall-William McDonald, 6th Earl of Antrim, whom he married in 1799
