Hand-coloured engraved wall-map of Asia on 4 sheets, joined, with title and explanation sections, overall 1040 x 1560mm, the sheets incorporating elaborate borders decorated with 22 vignette scenes and explanatory texts, the map with inset plans of the Gulf of Vaygats and two of Northern China, explanatory text borders comprising 6 sections, with general title in two sections along upper margin. (The map, mounted and laid down on linen, margins slightly restored)

A fine wall-map of Asia, a reissue of the de Fer wall-map of 1700. This example has the imprint of Danet on the map sheets, dated 1728, with the later Bernard imprint on the general title and the engraver's imprint of Van Loon. Guillaume Danet was the son-in-law of de Fer, and together with J.F. Bernard succeeded to the copper-plates of de Fer.
