Manuscript estate plan on vellum, 920 x 730mm, in sepia ink and colours, watercourses in blue, tracks in brown, pastures in heavy green, woodlands and orchards denoted by tree symbols, directions of the roads indicated by delicate ruffed hands, the manor house drawn neatly in the centre with the fields indicated by Roman numerals, these listed separately in a key of fields and acreages. The plan is profusely decorated with a delicate repeated floral border, separate floral border around field key, the plan further embellished with an elaborate title cartouche depicting a surveyor seated holding a staff and a scroll of algebraic computations, additional cartouche of surveyors names within strapwork cartouche, coat of arms of the Stiles family, compass rose, scale of perches and chains with customary dividers, and a further device of two roses with fleur-de-lys at their base. The plan mounted on later wooden rollers (very light soiling and minor crease marks to centre).

An attractive and elaborate plan of an estate in central Sussex between Reigate, Worth and Crawley. Charles Mason is not recorded by Eden, and William Page is only recorded for a Surrey estate plan of 1733.
