Lot Essay

The form of the birds on the side of this small bottle relate closely to the birds found on the sides of oil lamps such as the second piece in lot 303 in this sale. The bodies are reduced to their geometric minimun, while the heads have no features at all, being symbolised by the raised triangular motifs that are found here.
