Glass vessels decorated in polychrome lustre are extremely rare. The present example has unfortunately lost the majority of its surface with the effects of irridisation, leaving many of the original details of the design to the imagination. The form of the present ewer is almost identical to earlier Sassanian versions, as is shown by a glass handled jug in the Teheran Museum dated to the 6th-7th centuries.
