SEPP, Jan Christiaan (publisher). Catalogue systématique et raisonné d'une superbe collection d'Objets de trois Règnes de la Nature. Amsterdam: J. C. Sepp, 1773.

8° (180 x 105mm). Parallel text in Dutch and French, woodcut head and tailpieces. (Possibly lacking two blanks in first and last quires, a few leaves offset.) Old vellum, lettered and with later library label on spine (slightly soiled). Provenance: Bibliotech Rosales, Bernate (bookplate and shelf label).

A sale catalogue of an extensive Wunderkammer, in the tradition of the Neapolitan, Ferrante Imperato and the Dutch merchant, Levinus Vincent, whose collection was dispersed at auction in 1779. The present collection includes not only natural-history specimens (birds, mammals, fish, insects, shells, plants and minerals) but also objets d'art such as ivory statues, bronzes, precious stones, coins and medals, porcelain, miniatures and drawings. It is likely that Sepp was the organiser of the sale, which was due to take place on 9 November 1773, and on the following days, at the home of Arnaud Dankmeyer in Amsterdam. Catalogues were priced at 6 sols, and were sold for charity. The vendor (or vendors) of the collection is anonymous.
