each bifolio containing a complete juz' and each line beginning with the letter alif in red, manuscript on ivory paper, 31ff. plus two flyleaves, each with 41ll. of minute black naskh, punctuation in red, gold roundels between verses, some words in red, blue, red, green and gold margins between black rules, blue outer rule, margined on dark buff paper, illuminated marginal medallions marking the divisions of text, gold outer margin between black rules, sura headings in red in gold-outlined clouds, (negligible smudging and staining), opening bifolio with later illuminated margins of gold and polychrome scrolling leafy vine, gold-glitter lacquer binding with floral medallion, pendants and borders (small chips mainly to edges), red lacquer doublures painted with a narcissus within gold and black border
