A MEISSEN (K.P.M.) CHINOISERIE TEAPOT AND COVER of pear shape, painted in the manner of J.G. Höroldt, one side with a couple at a table before a blackmoor in a plumed head-dress, the other side with two figures one seated holding a flaming torch, before a table with a vase filled with smoking wood, on terraces with flowering plants and within shaped gilt line cartouches with Böttger lustre panels and iron-red and purple Laub-und-Bandelwerk, the eagle's head faceted spout with acanthus leaf terminal and scroll handle flanked by indianische Blumen and insects and the shoulders with a band of interlocking scrollwork, the cover with chinoiserie figures on terraces (repaired chip to rim and minute chip to footrim, the cover broken and restored), blue K.P.M. mark, gilder's 27. to both pieces, circa 1723
