A PAIR OF CANOSAN VOLUTE KRATERS, each decorated with white slip and painted in red, pink and blue,
Sides A: showing winged Nike driving a chariot pulled by three galloping horses, the neck frieze with winged bust flanked by flowering plants
Sides B: showing two seated draped figures, one holding an open casket, flanking a grave stele which is tied with a fillet, the neck frieze with laurel leaf band
handles moulded in the form of Medusa heads, at the top of each are holes (to aid drying and circulation of heat during firing), a hole in the base (for the above and to allow libations to the deceased to flow directly into the ground), foot on one vessel repaired, early 3rd Century B.C.
