A 17-Bore Algerian Toe-Lock Gun
19th Century
With tapering octagonal barrel retained by five embossed silver barrel bands and a white-metal band at the front of the fore-end, the rear of the breech with slotted brass fore-sight and applied brass band, plain tang (applied silver panel missing), characteristic lock with applied brass panels (top jaw and screw replaced), three-quarter stock (reduced from full) decorated with pierced and engraved silver panels (some incomplete) set with corals, engraved brass butt-plate, brass trigger with spirally fluted finial, and wooden ramrod (finger-pad removed), barrel-forger's mark(?) 'EH'
