A Rare 140-Bore Budding Patent First Model Five-Shot Percussion Pepperbox Revolver
No. 2, circa 1830
With hand-rotated brass barrel block numbered from '1' to '5' and stamped at the rear with the serial number, exposed iron cocking lever, brass frame signed 'Budding/Maker' within engraved scrolls, internal action, and figured walnut grips each retained by two brass screws

Invented by E. Budding of Thrup Mill, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, a scientist who also invented the lawnmower, and made improvements to machinery used in wool mills. It is thought that only about 50 Budding revolvers were produced
