With signed rebrowned sighted barrels each with gold line and gold-lined touch-hole, engraved grooved tangs, signed border engraved bevelled locks each with engraved safety-catch, stepped tail, blued steel-spring, and some original blued finish on the internal parts (cocks expertly replaced), figured walnut half-stocks (minor bruising), deeply chequered 'Catalan'-style butts, engraved blued iron mounts including heel-caps each engraved 'Prosser 1803', horn-tipped ramrods, one with worm, and some original finish, London proof marks

Lot Essay

John Prosser was appointed Sword Cutler and Beltmaker to King George III in 1795 and to King George IV in 1827

It is likely that Prosser serial numbered only his 'Catalan'-butted pistols
