With swamped browned twist sighted barrels signed in script on the top flat (some loss of finish, mainly on one) and each engraved with a band of chevron ornament at the rear, finely engraved case-hardened tangs, signed engraved bevelled case-hardened locks each with stepped tail, engraved safety-catch also locking the steel, semi-rainproof pan, blued steel-spring, and original blued finish on the internal working parts, figured walnut full stocks (minor cracks and bruising), the butts with characteristic chequering, finely engraved blued iron mounts (one barrel-bolt chipped), original horn-tipped ramrods, one with worm, and much original finish: in original lined and fitted oak case with accessories including turnscrew and original three-way flask covered in red leather, the lid (chipped, top section loose) with trade label for 1786-1804, and flush-fitting carrying handle, London proof marks
