A fine and rare early 19th-Century lacquered-brass reflecting circle,
signed Troughton & Simms LONDON, the 12-inch (30.5cm) diameter circle with a cruciform central support and silvered scale, the vernier arms engraved A, B and C, with clamp and tangent screw fine adjustment, and with magnifier arm with counterweight, with two mirrors, six shades and telescope with body-tube 7 1/8-inch (18cm.) long, curved limp with mahogany endpiece for pillar or tripod mounting and a separate mahogany handle , mounted with two large counterweights on a tapering brass pillar with splayed tripod feet, each with fine screw level adjustment -- 20½in. (52cm.) high
