Lot Essay

cf. Dr. Ernest Ploil, Lotz at the World Exhibition Paris 1900, 1993, p.32-33. Listed as #389 by the firm, this form was exhibited in Paris with three different decorations, including one with a tulip. Ploil maintains that, because of the overall "harmony" of this piece, Franz Hofstätter must have been responsible for both the form and decoration.
