A ROMAN IVORY DISK
circa late 3rd-early 4th century a.d.
The oval disk carved in high relief with four figures, including a radiate draped male bust in the upper central field, with finely detailed features, the pupils drilled, his hair arranged in anastole, a draped male bust to the left, his hair arranged in similar fashion but here bound in a diadem, a draped female bust to the right, her mantle pulled up over the top of her head, with a fringe of vertical locks framing her face, and a facing head of a boy below, his hair combed back in straight, linear locks
