A FINE EMBELLISHED MUGHAL JADE WATERPOT
MUGHAL INDIA, 17TH/18TH CENTURY

The jade waterpot of compressed globular form, divided at the mid-body with a gilt-metal mount, inlaid with diamonds, simulated rubies and emeralds to depict four pairs of birds, each pair divided by a tri-petal flower head, surrounding a band of simulate ruby radiating from the circular aperture, the lower section similarly embellished to form a concentric floral scroll above the short circular foot
2 3/8 in. (6 cm.) diam.
