AN IRON-RED-ENAMELLED AND GILT-DECORATED DAJI WALL PLAQUE
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

The plaque is moulded on one side in the form of a double-gourd supported on an ornate wood-simulated stand, tied at the narrow waist with turquoise-enamelled drapery, all below a large gilded bat at the mouth rim, the upper body gilded with the character da within a medallion surrounded by five blue-enamelled bats against a gilded brocade and iron-red ground, the lower body similarly decorated with the character ji
23 1/2 in. (59.7 cm.) high, mounted as a screen
