The dished top freely carved with two long-tailed birds perched in prunus branches flanked by cloud spandrels at the corners, above sprays of narcissus and chrysanthemum on the two long sides and a four-character inscription, Meng jian zhou gong, inscribed on one end, the other end pierced with a circular vent and left unglazed in square patches at the corners where the pillow was supported in the kiln, covered in a glaze of olive color which also covers the flat base
