A late 18th century/early 19th century mahogany longcase clock with flat moulded pediment above free standing fluted columns with brass capitals, the trunk with quarter fluted columns at the angles, fret carved frieze and rectangular moulded arch door, above square plinth with raised panels and rectangular moulded base with ogee feet, brass dial with strike/silent ring in arch, cast cherub spandrels depicting the four seasons, circular chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute divisions, gilt matted centre with seconds ring and date aperture, signed Mathew French, London, the eight-day movement striking on a bell with pendulum and two weights -- 87in. high.
