A VICTORIAN SILVER THREE PIECE BACHELOR'S TEA SERVICE, maker's mark of Elkington & Co., Birmingham, 1881, each cast, in the Renaissance taste, comprising teapot, two handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each compressed circular with mid rib, on raised circular base, base and shoulder with tongue and dart band, each with lower body with oval form reserves enclosing paired (differing) figures or grotesques, the shoulder decoration varying, all with putto applied scroll handle, the decoration on matted ground, the teapot shoulder with grotesque masks divided by foliate scrolls, with foliate spout, the hinged raised cover topped by kneeling scribe finial, together with a pair of sugar tongs--the teapot 5in. (12.7cm.) high gross weight 33.5oz. (4)
